Henry Arnold began his professional career after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in landscape architecture in 1958. Professional work focused on design of parks and urban spaces internationally. His watercolor painting started as an avocation in mid-career. This work is now pursued with renewed commitment, painting urban landscapes from a studio residence in Manhattan. An avid interest in the city as a place to experience life and art gives these watercolors a focus. Henry Arnold’s paintings have rarely been on public display, and several dozen have been acquired by private collectors, who would prefer to remain anonymous. The latest work leans toward abstraction, carrying a latent message for interpreting the urban landscape.
All work is done using transparent watercolor on 140 lb. or 300 lb. watercolor paper.
